I was experiencing a great deal of pain in my right foot but, because of my job, I couldn’t simply take time off or rest my foot. I had been to Pro Action only once before for a massage, which was quite helpful, but just when I thought about making another appointment, Covid-19 shut everything down. When my occasional foot pain became constant and intense, I was very relieved when Pro Action was able to see patients again. I had never done a tele-health type of appointment before, but was pleasantly surprised at the level of care I was able to receive from Chris Degeus. Chris was genuinely concerned about getting to the cause of the pain and forming a diagnosis. Between our devices, he was able to demonstrate some exercises and make sure I was doing them correctly. I was given a timeline for healing and we discussed lifestyle, footwear, and any other choices that could affect my progress. During the appointment I do the exercises in front of the camera and Chris makes sure I am doing them correctly.
The process for connecting is quite simple – a half-hour before the appointment, Pro Action sends an email with a link and once you click on it, you simply wait for your health professional to join the appointment. I clicked the wrong email for one appointment and waited and waited. Chris called me and we resolved the problem quickly. The following appointment I couldn’t make it home from work on time and had to cancel, but Chris called me later in the evening and made sure everything was ok, and discussed my situation in detail. We were able to determine a better time that worked for an appointment early the following week. I’ve had 4 appointments with Chris and I have noticed a significant improvement. I believe that we have a shared goal to improve and heal my tendon issues, a realistic time-line, lots of support and useful communication. I have been to a physiotherapist for another issue in the past, and I don’t think there is any difference in the outcome because my appointments with Chris are online. In fact, I think the level of communication and follow-up is actually better. If you are struggling with pain and are hesitant to seek help because you aren’t comfortable seeing a practitioner in person, I can assure you that online appointments can be very effective.

I have dealt with chronic neck pain for years, with episodic exacerbations often interfering with sleep. As a physician, I was relieved that there was no medical diagnosis causing this problem and tried everything: stretching, yoga, physiotherapy, all types of pillows, Nsaids and combinations. It turns out I carry stress in my neck and years of less than optimal posture at work or at the computer contributed to my situation. I had seen first hand the benefit that Dr. Baylis was able to obtain with his ART technique on high level athletes, so I booked an appointment. Dr. Baylis is very professional and client-centered. He explained his assessment and technique and worked completely within with my level of confidence. My range of motion increased from the very first ART treatment and only a few treatments were required to bring me back to a level of pain free functioning that I had not seen in years. Thank you Dr. Baylis!

Dr. Shayne Baylis has helped me with lower back and neck issues I encountered during a pregnancy. As a dentist I am always aware of the importance of posture but find myself in straining positions during dental treatment. From the first visit I noticed immediate results and have learnt from Dr. Baylis preventative measures to ensure I remain healthy throughout a long dental career. Thank you Dr. Baylis!

I cannot thank Dr. Baylis enough! I could not sit without pain and climbing the stairs was a real challenge for me. With his dedication and determination he worked to repair the damage to my legs. I am now pain free and can do everything that I wasn’t able to do in the past. He will give you 101% and I feel more than fortunate to know him. Thanks Shayne for doing such a great job!

When I first met you I was at my worst. Before being referred to your clinic I honestly thought my arm and shoulder would never be the same. Many specialists and doctors could only recommend prescription pain killers and time. My shoulder became stiff, sore, less mobile and continued to get worse. Dr. Baylis took the time to understand the functionality of my arm and my limitations, and with Active Release Technique I was able to gain strength, mobility and cope with less pain. Not only did I learn so much from Dr. Baylis, but I also learned valuable life lessons about myself, my health and its importance to me. I am now motivated and set goals to work out, take stretching classes and enjoy additional outdoor activities that life as to offer. I really have so much gratitude and would recommend Dr. Baylis to anyone!

I have experienced chronic headaches and upper back stiffness since I was a first year university student. From long hours of school work my headaches progressed, 1-2 per week, as the school load increased. I found minimal relief from medications and other alternative treatments such as hot packs, and massage. Daily activities became a hassle due to the discomfort level I was experiencing. I started seeing Dr. Baylis in September 2008. After a few Active Release Treatments and Adjustments I experienced a world of relief! My headache frequency has decreased to 1 every couple months and the stiffness in my upper back is gone! Dr. Baylis showed concern about my health and was very knowledgeable with the diagnosis and treatments. I am very thankful for Dr. Baylis because now I feel like a normal person again!

I had the opportunity to receive chiropractic, Graston, and Kinesiotaping from Dr. Baylis while he was strength training with Primordial during his tryouts for professional hockey. Shayne enhanced my ability to transition into an athletic style of strength training after a long layoff from elite power lifting without aggravating old injuries. Dr. Baylis can effectively mix all these modalities into his practice and dramatically improve patient outcomes in lasting ways.
